Monita says what she loves most about her role as a Youth Navigator is working hands on with Rangatahi to empower and enable them to be the leaders of their own future. For her, it is such a fulfilling role being able to give back to our Community to ensure the wellbeing of our whānau is being meet. Also having the opportunity to engage with our community on a personal level, working hands on with whānau who need support in tackling the different challenges life presents.
Monita wants the Rangatahi she works with to know, “You are worth it!” “You can do it!” “We can move forward together!”
Outside of mahi, Monita enjoys spending time with her whānau and friends connecting back to the Taiao through surfing. Otherwise, you will no doubt catch her out at the skate park with the other Rangatahi teaching herself new tricks.
Ehara taku toa i te toa taki tahi, engari he toa taki tini!
My success is not that of an individual but that of the collective!
Monita says her greatest achievement so far in life is being the person she is today. Made by her whānau and friends that surround and support her.
Monita has a Bachelor of Māori Development & Māori Media.
