Registered School Based Nurse
May 2019

Chris joined the Te Kupenga Hauora - Ahuriri whānau in May 2019 as our Registered School Based Nurse. In his previous mahi Chris was the Senior Nursing Lecturer at the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) where he’d been since 1999.  He enjoys meeting new people both in our office and out and about.

Chris says he is a passionate Child Health / Mental Health Nurse who has skills in assessment where he is able to detect health needs.  These skills are yet to be tested in acommunity setting and he looks forward to working with tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau in our local schools and in the wider community.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his life partner (of 33years), Noreen and their three sons Finbar, Seamus and Ruaridh (when they are home).  He acknowledges that they are his greatest achievements in life so far. Their two Fox Terriers Jax and Daisy help keep them on their toes.  Chris is a keen VW (Volkswagen) enthusiast who has built and maintains his own Beach Buggy. With a love of music generally, Chris plays the guitar.  He coaches our local Junior Roller DerbyTeam, “Guns N Roses”, is able to referee as well as trains with the “Bay City Rollers”, who are the senior team.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Master of Health Science.
