Richard was asked, what is the most important message you have for whānau or the community about what you can do for them in your role/position?, his response was "Don't be shy to ask for help, we all need some awhi at some point in our lives and we are here to offer that."

Outside of mahi Richard enjoys health and wellbeing, sports, Kapa Haka, diving, and spending time with whānau.

What Richard enjoys about his role the most, is being able to have a positive impact on our rangatahi.

His greatest achievements in life are his tamariki and whānau.

Richard hold numerous qualifications such as National Certificate in Māori Performing Arts Level 4, Certificate in Introduction to Social Work. But he said life is his greatest qualification.
